Help Getting Pregnant Naturally

When you are trying to conceive you should try to understand as much as possible about how reproduction works. This will allow you to focus on the areas where you can give nature a helping hand and improve your chances of getting pregnant naturally.

Reproduction is a very complicated and intricate system. Each part of the process needs to come together successfully to achieve a healthy pregnancy that is carried to full-term.

The process starts with healthy sperm. Despite being the smallest members of the equation they need to be healthy to impregnate an egg. They have a difficult task and a women’s reproductive tract can be a hostile environment for sperm, this is why they need to be present in large numbers.

They are also required to reach the egg in large numbers because of the size difference. Many sperm are required to produce sufficient quantity of an enzyme that breaks down the outer layer of the egg. This allows the lucky one (or sometimes two) sperm to enter the egg. In order to fulfill this task, they need to have good morphology and motility. This means that they need to have a normal shape, a complete tail, be physically mature enough to carry all the required genetic material and be able to swim for extended periods of time in the right direction. Sounds like a tough gig.

Likewise, the women’s egg needs to be healthy as well. The egg at this early stage is called an oocyte. It is released from a dominant follicle that matures within the ovary. When the woman ovulates, it begins its journey down the fallopian tube. If intercourse is timed properly and the sperm are healthy, the egg and sperm meet. The resulting embryo then needs to implant into the uterine lining and remain viable. Any health condition that inhibits ovulation will have a direct impact on female fertility.

Further to this, the uterus needs to be prepared to accept the fertilized egg. Any condition that affects the condition of the uterine lining will also hinder fertility and will probably be associated with hormonal imbalance as well.

Looking after your health in general will ensure that your sperm and egg quality are high. This will include removing or reducing the level of toxins in your system as these reproductive cells are extremely sensitive to toxins. Toxins can come from our food, air, environment and lifestyle. Smoking and drinking alcohol are two very big contributors to toxins in our systems.

Maintaining a healthy diet and taking supplements will also ensure you have the nutrients required to support new life. A healthy BMI will also ensure that you are in good overall health and will help you to achieve a natural pregnancy.
